A rare and beautiful clock of distinction. Made by the celebrated clock maker Gabrial Gay Cie Company! Of 5 rue Montorge, Grenoble, France of the 1930s period. What sets this fine example apart from the rest is a magnificent spelter figure of The Bird Dancer by Salvadoro, an Art Deco dancer with birds wings outstretched. The piece carries a raised France on the rear of the left wing. The French movement (bell removed to show number) is embossed with the number 52438 and keeps good time, striking on the hour and half hour to indicate the hour. The face is in good condition, set oblong with Arabian numbers in the Art Deco style, recording the makers name and location in black over a gold background. Comes with key, bell and original pendulum. The body of the clock is made up entirely of a two toned marble. An almost totally neutral grey colour over a natural waved patterned beige through brown layers, all sitting on four brass bun feet. Overall, this is a beautiful example of Art Deco design and French styling all brought together in a functional item for those connoisseurs of 1930s design and undying beauty and intrigue. The clock stands approximately 13.5 inches tall (inc figure) 18 inches long and 5.5 inches wide, is extremely heavy, weighing in excess of 15kg.
